Payments Variation Needed for International Expansion | Shopware | Nexi Roadshow: OMR Hamburg

In this Nexi Roadshow interview from OMR, Hamburg, we spoke to Alexey Pronin, EMEA General Manager for Shopware, to find out what e-commerce trends they’re seeing develop in DACH. There’s some reflections on the use of AI and the integration of Spatial Commerce but he also points out how merchants here are seeking to access other regions.

This is where Nexi comes in, and Pronin goes on to explain how important payment variation is when merchants are looking to reach foreign markets. We’ll discuss that and more as we look at some of the topics discussed in this video.

As with other interviews from the Nexi Roadshow, we’re looking to shed light on payments and e-commerce trends in the DACH region. An area with cultural similarities but varying approaches to commerce and payments, it’s ripe for disruption and we want to know what the experts think.

If you’ve not already, check out our previous video on top tips for a great e-commerce checkout experience, which makes an excellent companion to this video.

E-Commerce Trends in DACH

Of course, we can’t have this conversation without the mention of AI. Pronin points out that they’re seeing a lot of innovation here and Shopware makes a claim to being at the forefront of that progress. They were the 1st such platform to launch AI copilot capabilities, which aim to assist merchants in creating an efficient online store.

Another point is that ecommerce has been around for a while now. Things need to change in order for merchants to compete and for platforms like Shopware to differentiate themselves.

One way of doing this is through the addition of Spatial Commerce. This is taking things from the 2D to the 3D. You might have seen it with certain fashion shops and even IKEA. With the inevitable rise of VR and popularisation of headsets like the Apple Vision Pro, it’s possible that this will become more and more popular so it’s a good idea to get in on the ground floor.

Finally, Pronin points out the impact internationalisation is having on ecommerce. In difficult economic conditions and the reach that the internet provides, more merchants are looking to expand into other regions and reach new customer bases. This is where Nexi comes in.

Partnerships are important

For merchants to provide the best user experience to their customers and Shopware to reach customers in different regions, they need a partner who can make payments seamless. That’s why they work with Nexi to deliver this integral part of the checkout process.

Pronin points out that in the modern e-commerce world, you don’t need to do it all and can collaborate with specialist partners to make sure you are covered in different areas. They can now give merchants the freedom of choice, because Nexi has that specialist knowledge and experience of other regions.

There are a few other topics covered in this great interview which forms an excellent part of the overall Nexi Roadshow. Be sure to go back and watch the other conversations we’ve had so far and stay tuned for our next stop, in Munich.
