About Hylton Kallner

Hylton Kallner, a proudly South African actuary, business builder and CEO of Discovery Bank Limited. Hylton Kallner has been part of the Discovery Group, a multinational financial services group acknowledged as a leader in behavioural change and integration with insurance, for nearly 25 years. He has extensive experience in leading marketing operations, actuarial and strategic projects, and heading up various businesses of the Discovery Group, including its South African operations as the Chief Executive Officer. Discovery made its entrance into banking in 2019 and as the CEO of Discovery Bank Limited, Hylton heads up the growth, product development and integration strategy of Discovery Bank in the composite model of the Discovery Group. Under Hylton’s leadership, Discovery aims to expand the reach of its Shared-value Insurance model in the category of shared-value banking to create greater banking value for people who manage their money well. In under two years, Discovery Bank has the fastest growing deposit book and is becoming the fastest growing bank in South Africa, ranking among banking leaders globally. “For me, while we’re passionate about our products and innovations, it’s imperative that all Discovery clients feel that we’re 100% accessible and responsive to their needs; that we listen and that we always do the right thing.” He also held a position as a Director at Discovery Health (Pty) Ltd. Mr. Kallner completed his undergraduate degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1995.
